Why Acme exists
Answers everywhere, found nowhere.
Companies remember more than any one person can, but that memory sits in dozens of tools and rarely resurfaces at the moment someone needs it.
Our founders felt it daily at a fast-growing startup, where engineers lost whole afternoons chasing a spec, a past decision or the one colleague with the answer.
So they set out to build something simple: ask a work question once, and get an answer you can trust.
What came next
The index turned out to be the foundation.
To rank results well, we had to model who can see what, how projects connect and which people hold which expertise. That same model now sits under everything Acme does, so each answer, automation and agent starts from what your company actually knows.
Search
Look up docs, threads and records from every app your teams use, in one box.
Assistant
Ask a question, get a cited draft and hand off the busywork to an AI helper.
Agents
Hand off multi-step jobs to agents that act across your tools while staying inside the guardrails you set.
The Acme platform
One foundation for every assistant and agent you build.
Milestones
How we got here, year by year.
2018
A frustration worth fixing.
While running engineering at a growing startup, our future CEO watches talented people waste hours digging for specs and decisions. Nothing on the market solves it, so he begins sketching a fix of his own on nights and weekends.
2019
Four founders, two quiet years.
A seed check and a handful of early hires let the founding team work out of sight on source connectors, a permission-aware index and a very first search screen for design partners to try.
2021
Acme steps into the open.
We announce the company alongside fresh funding and a customer list that already spans dozens of names. Those first deployments show the pain is felt by every function, not only engineers, and adoption tends to jump from one department to its neighbors within just a few weeks of going live.
2022
Unicorn status and a first study.
A growth round lifts our valuation past the billion-dollar mark. We also publish our first research report, which finds workers spend around nine hours a week on information hunts.
2023
Answers, not just links.
Grounded generative answers arrive, respecting the same permissions as search, followed soon after by a conversational chat interface. By year end we lay out a bigger ambition: one system for every kind of work, drawing on documents, people, projects and the activity that ties them all together across the company.
2024
Opening the doors to builders.
New developer tools and APIs let customers create their own experiences on our index and graph, putting company context behind every team's use of AI. We raise twice more, and annual revenue more than doubles year over year as big enterprises roll Acme out company-wide, team after team.
2025
Agents take on real work.
Agents go live, and we host our first user conference, filling a large hall with several thousand builders and admins. Those agents carry context into the systems they act on. Revenue doubles in less than twelve months, and a fresh investment pushes our valuation beyond five billion dollars.
2026
Coworkers, not just tools.
Our assistant starts to anticipate needs and work alongside people, and autonomous agents carry context and policy into the apps teams open every day. We also ship a retrieval model trained for agents, and our revenue run rate climbs again well before the year is half over.
